Tuesday's Tips - How to Get Out of Debt - Step 3

Tuesday's Tips Button

In case you're just joining us, here are the first two posts in the series.  Post #1 & Post #2

Are you ready to work today?  We're going to get our rough budget together.  Then I want you to sit down with your spouse and for you to both to go over it and make sure you're both willing to stick to it.

I did 2nd video, but it took absolutely FOREVER to upload to YouTube.  It's still not ready, UGH!  Basically I was just going to show how to plug in your numbers, making sure that you give every dollar a name.  Not every category must have a number.  I don't think anyone has enough money for that!!!  You can play around with the numbers, but be sure that if you need more money from one category you take money away from another.  It has to equal zero at the end.  Make sure it's realistic and that you can stick to it.  Remember each month is different and so each monthly budget will vary somewhat.

The categories that are for longer term savings such as Christmas money and property taxes I put into a savings account.  Then I take those amounts and use them over to the Breakdown of Savings sheet in the correct category.  I do this so that I don't accidentally spend that money because it's just sitting in my checking.  Also, since I have it broken down on my list I know what each and every dollar is for and I'm not tempted to spend it on something else.

I've attached some Budget Planning Sheets that I made on Google Documents.  You are welcome to download it onto Excel or similar spreadsheet program and use it yourself.  Please if you have any questions leave them in the comments, I would be very happy to answer them.  I'm totally a nerd, I LOVE budgets, let me know if I can help you in any way!  Having a budget totally Works for Me!!!

* If this budget isn't downloading for you check out this post.

Found you WFMW. Interesting. We balance our checkbook this way with an excel spreadsheet and it helps us stay on course.
