Fear in Uncertain Times

Tuesday's Tips Button

Having Faith and Hope when the future looks bleak can be so difficult.

Some of us are very logical by nature.  Loving subjects such as math, where the rules have reasons and work every time.  We thrive in using strategy and logic, using the mind to make things happen.  We like to rely on ourselves, believing we can do anything our minds are set to.

Faith - Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence*

Faith is the opposite of that.  It's hard to accept sometimes.   Somehow we can easily believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior, yet faith and trust can be difficult.  We want desperately to be self-reliant.  This makes it difficult to trust in someone else to take us through a difficult time, when we can't envision the path.

Trust - Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing *

God has taken our family through many trials.  He has shown us that He is worthy of our trust.

So why is it still so difficult?

An Uncertain Future causes our trust to waver.  We KNOW that God will take us through, although we can't see they way right now.   It's just so hard to let the uncertainty go.  Control is our desire and when things are uncertain, there is nothing in our power we can do.  All we can do is pray to God to show us the path He wants us to take.

Hope - To look forward to with confidence or expectation *

Because faith and trust are wavering,  hope is thrown right out the window.   This can be the biggest reason for burn out.  We wonder what will come of all this hard work we've been putting in.  We are not looking forward with confidence or expectation, but with fear.

Fear - A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger

Fear, is not a fruit of the spirit.  God gave us fear to help warn us of danger, but when we make decisions in fear, we're moving away from something instead of towards another thing.  A goal is to work towards the positive, not run away from the negative.

Love - A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person *

God's loves for each one of us is deeper than anything.  Because of this, we need to denounce the fear and feel God's arms wrapped around us, knowing that we can bask in His love for us.  Accept the gifts He is giving with an open mind and heart.  Enjoy this journey we call life, which God has given so graciously to us.

Let's hear from you

What pulls you through uncertainty?   Do faith and trust come easily to you or do you struggle also?  I've seen those who can trust through anything and they amaze me!

Have been learning TRUST over the last few financially unstable years. One thing that helps me is bird watching. They just go about their business of raising their little bird familes and God always has a garden planted for them... TRUSTING he does for me as well!

Sherry, Preach it! He is so worthy of our praise!

Liberty, Trust is so hard, but you're right he takes care of the birds and lilies, so why not me?!
