(Unfortunately I didn't get a picture this time)

1 lb. ground beef, browned
4-5 potatoes, sliced
1 onion, chopped
16 oz. can kidney beans (I use whatever beans are on hand OR I prepare dried beans)
1/4 lb (or more;)Velveeta cheese, cubed
1-8 oz can tomato sauce*
1 1/2 t. salt
1/4 t pepper 

Layer in slow cooker: ground beef, potatoes, onions, beans, and cheese.  Pour sauce over top.  Season with salt and pepper.  Dot with butter.  Cover.  Cook on Low 6-8 hours.

I adapted this recipe from Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook.  I HIGHLY recommend this book!

*Original recipe calls for tomato soup, but I'm trying to keep out preservatives.  If using tomato soup, drain beans
